WOH uses thermoforming technology to create clothing hangers out of recycled plastics

We believe that a modern business is run responsibly, taking into consideration the challenges of the world we live in today and the future. It is our commitment to design and make products that withstand the test of time both in terms of durability and aesthetics. Making smart material choices is another crucial aspect of designing a more environmentally considerate product.
Our designs that feature felt surfaces are made making use of PET Technology. This allows to give a durable and lasting shape to a felt material that has a functional and aesthetic property in our designs. The PET felt we use consist of 85% of recycled plastic bottles instead of virgin polyester.
Recycling
The first step of recycling any material is the collection which is mostly reliant on us- people. If a plastic bottle is binned with general waste it will most likely not be recycled. While we do not promote consumption of single use plastics we encourage people to always sort the waste. This way it is more likely the material will find a new life. After the plastic bottles are sorted and washed in a recycling facility the bottles are shredded and granulated. This is followed by identification and separation processes to sort different types of plastics. Now the small particles are smashed and melted into small pellets that can be used to make new materials.
Lasting Appeal
The chips are heated and passed through a spinneret to form new strings of soft PET fibres. By mixing different colours of fibres we can create different shades. We choose to work with timeless colours that resonate with various interiors and have a lasting appeal.
Resilient Shape
Multiple layers of combed PET fibres are pressed on top of each other to create sheets of PET felt. Making use of thermoforming technology allows us to give a resilient and lasting shape to the soft felt. The process is finished off by water cutting machine that gives the product a clean edge.
